Adventure activities in Dubai
Dubai's adventure activities range from track driving at Dubai Autodrome and dune buggies at Lahbab to climbing walls, horse rides in the desert and paramotor flights over the dunes. Most take place on the edge of the city or in the desert, and only a few include transport. Age, height and weight rules are strict for the motorised and airborne activities, so check them before you book.

What to expect
The motorised activities start with a safety briefing, and helmets are provided. At Dubai Kartdrome the first three minutes of each session are driven at a set pace so you can learn the layout, and you are asked to arrive an hour early to register and sign a disclaimer. On a self-drive dune buggy you drive for an hour in a convoy behind a guide, with a recovery vehicle following. Horse rides and paramotor flights run only at sunrise and sunset, when it is cooler and calmer.
How to choose
- Speed on a track: licensed drivers aged 21 and over can book the supercar driving experience. Without a licence, take a passenger hot lap from AED 350.
- The desert under power: a 30-minute quad ride at Lahbab costs AED 150; a two-seat buggy costs from AED 900 and can be shared by two people.
- The desert at a slower pace: DXB Horse Riding runs group rides from AED 172 in Al Ruwayyah, and Rendezvous Dubai takes riders from age 5.
- From the air: a 20-minute paramotor flight flies you low over the Margham dunes with a pilot.
- An evening in town: climb rope-free at GoClimb or on the 15 m outdoor wall at The Wall Dubai, open from 5pm to 11pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
- A group day out: Action Park combines axe throwing and archery with paintball on one site.
- Mountains: in Hatta, Go Gravity runs a guided rover ride and a Cyber Kart off-road ride, about 90 minutes from Dubai by car.
Safety and rules
Limits are specific to each activity. Supercar drivers must be 21 with four years of driving and be 152–185 cm tall and 110 kg or less. Hot-lap passengers must be at least 14, 150–190 cm tall and 114 kg or less. Desert Buggys does not recommend buggies or quads for pregnant women or people with back or neck problems. Horse riders must weigh no more than 85 kg at DXB Horse Riding and 90 kg with Rendezvous Dubai. Several operators, including Action Park and the paramotor club, do not publish a minimum age, so ask before booking with children.
Practical tips
- Wear closed shoes; sandals are not allowed for track driving, and long trousers are advised for riding and the Hatta rovers.
- Many bookings cannot be refunded. Dubai Kartdrome gives no refunds or changes, and Go Gravity refunds only when weather or its own problems stop the ride.
- The paramotor club flies from Skydive Dubai's desert campus, which Skydive Dubai listed as temporarily closed for its own jumps when checked, so confirm the club is flying.
- Opening hours for Go Gravity differ between its own site and Visit Hatta; check before you drive out.
