Review and content policy

Version 0.1 Effective

In short

  • Reviews must describe a genuine, first-hand experience. Fake, bought or incentivised reviews are not allowed.
  • We do not remove reviews because they are negative. We remove only content that breaks the rules below, and we tell the author why.
  • You can report inaccurate or unlawful content through our contact page.

What this policy covers

This policy applies to reviews, ratings, photos, replies and any other content that users, operators or partners submit to Dubai Activity, and it explains the standards we apply to our own editorial content. It forms part of our terms of use.

What a good review looks like

  • It is about your own experience of the activity, place or service, ideally with the approximate date of your visit.
  • It is honest, whether positive, mixed or negative, and helps other travellers decide.
  • Photos are your own and show the experience.
  • It is written respectfully, even when you are critical.

What is not allowed

We remove, or do not publish, content that:

  • is fake or misleading: reviews that are bought, written in exchange for money, discounts or gifts without disclosure, written by the operator, its staff, competitors or our own staff, or written about an experience the author did not have;
  • is illegal, for example defamatory, discriminatory, threatening, or infringing someone’s copyright, trademark or privacy;
  • is offensive: hate speech, harassment, obscene or sexually explicit content, or gratuitous violence;
  • contains personal data of other people, such as full names of staff without their consent, phone numbers, email addresses or booking references;
  • is not about the experience: advertising, spam, links to other websites, political statements, or complaints only about a third party (for example your airline);
  • is a duplicate of a review already submitted by the same person for the same experience.

How moderation works

  • New reviews are checked against this policy before publication.
  • We never remove or hide a review because it is negative, and operators or partners cannot ask us to do so or pay us to do so.
  • If we reject or remove content, we tell the author which rule it broke, where we have a way to contact them. The author can ask us to reconsider through our contact page.
  • We may edit a review only to remove personal data or clearly unlawful parts, and we say that it was edited.
  • Operators may publish one public reply to a review. Replies follow the same rules.

How we show where ratings come from and whether they are verified is explained on how we rank and review.

Our editorial standards

  • Guides are written by named authors and show the date they were last reviewed. We review each guide at least every six months.
  • For rules that affect your trip, such as visas, entry requirements, transport and local laws, we link to official government sources.
  • Photos are our own, licensed, or supplied by partners with the right to use them. We do not use images taken from search engines.
  • Brand and venue names are used only to describe them, without suggesting that we are their official partner.
  • Commercial relationships do not influence our assessments; see our affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

If you find a factual mistake in our content, such as an outdated price, opening time or rule, please tell us through our contact page. We check the information and correct it as soon as we can, and we update the “last reviewed” date when we do.

Reporting content

To report a review, photo or other content that you believe breaks this policy or the law, write to us through our contact page. Please include the address of the page, which content you mean and why you think it should be removed. If you are reporting an infringement of your rights (for example copyright), tell us what right is affected and that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act for them.

We look at every report, decide carefully and objectively, and let you know the outcome where you gave us a way to reply. A dedicated reporting form will be added when users and partners can publish content themselves.
