Affiliate disclosure: how we make money

Version 0.1 Effective

In short

  • We may earn a commission when you book through our links, at no extra cost to you.
  • Paid placements are always labelled “Sponsored”. Commissions do not buy a good review.
  • Links to partners pass through short /go/ addresses on our domain so we can count clicks without collecting your personal data.

How Dubai Activity is funded

Dubai Activity is free to use. It is run by BRANDNEST S.R.L. and funded mainly through affiliate commissions: when you click a link to a partner and then book or buy something there, the partner may pay us a commission on that booking.

  • No extra cost to you. The commission is paid by the partner out of its own margin. You pay the same price as if you had gone to the partner’s website directly.
  • We are not the seller. Your booking contract is with the partner or operator. See our terms of use.
  • Commission levels vary. They depend on the partner, the programme and the type of product, and are set in each partner’s affiliate programme.

We may also accept paid placements, where a partner or operator pays for extra visibility. These are always labelled as described below.

Who our partners are

We work, or plan to work, with these types of partners:

  • activity and tour booking platforms, such as GetYourGuide or Viator, once we join their programmes;
  • hotel and accommodation booking platforms;
  • airport transfer, car rental, travel insurance and mobile data (eSIM) providers;
  • local operators of tours, attractions and experiences in Dubai.

We have not yet joined any affiliate programme. This list will be completed with the name of each partner as soon as we join its programme.

How we label affiliate links and paid placements

  • Every page that contains affiliate links shows a short notice near the top, not just in the footer: “We may earn a commission when you book through our links, at no extra cost to you.”, with a link to this page.
  • Paid placements are marked “Sponsored” (or “Ad”) directly on the card or in the list where they appear.
  • Buttons that take you to a partner say so, for example “Check availability on [partner name] (partner site)”.
  • Affiliate links are marked in the page code with rel="sponsored", the standard way of telling search engines that a link is commercial.

Links to partners do not point to the partner directly. They go through a short address on our own domain that starts with /go/ and then immediately forward you to the partner. We do this so that we can:

  • update or fix a partner link in one place, and switch off broken links quickly;
  • count how many people click each link and from where on the page, so we know which content is useful;
  • attach a random click identifier, so that we can match the commission reports we receive from partners to clicks.

For each click we record the link, the page and position, the device type, your country as reported by our content delivery network, the time and the random identifier. We do not record your IP address, name or email address. Details are in our privacy policy. The /go/ link itself does not set any cookie; once you reach the partner’s website, its own cookie and privacy policies apply.

Our editorial independence

Commissions keep the website running, but they do not decide what we write:

  • We choose what to cover and recommend based on usefulness to travellers: what is included, price, ratings, location, practical details and our own research.
  • Partners and operators cannot pay for a positive review, and they cannot ask us to remove negative information or reviews.
  • We also mention free things to do and options we do not earn from, where they are the best choice for you.
  • Paid placement can give a product extra visibility, but it is always labelled “Sponsored”, and it does not change our written assessment.

How we order results and handle reviews is explained on how we rank and review.
