Speedboat tours in Dubai

A speedboat tour is a fast way to see Dubai's coastline from the sea in an hour or so. Most shared tours leave from Dubai Marina and either stay around the marina, JBR and Ain Dubai or run on to Atlantis The Palm and Burj Al Arab. You can also hire a whole boat with a captain for your group.

What to expect

Shared tours use open boats, such as the rigid inflatables of The Yellow Boats and Xclusive Yachts, and carry a guide or an audio commentary in English. You wear a life jacket and stay seated; stops are for photos, not for getting off. The longer routes leave Dubai Marina, pass Bluewaters Island and the Ain Dubai wheel, run along the outside of Palm Jumeirah to Atlantis and continue to Burj Al Arab. Bottled water is included on most shared tours; food is not. Expect a fast ride. Xclusive Yachts says you normally stay dry apart from a few splashes, depending on the sea.

How to choose

  • Lowest price: the Hello Tours shared tour costs AED 100 per person for 90 minutes to Atlantis and Burj Al Arab, leaving at 5pm and 6pm. The Marina Skyline tour costs AED 119 but stays around the marina, JBR and Ain Dubai.
  • Both big landmarks: the Love Boats 90-minute tour and the Xclusive Yachts tour both reach Atlantis and Burj Al Arab. Xclusive offers free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
  • The most complete route: the Premium tour lasts 99 minutes and returns past the Palm lagoon and Madinat Jumeirah.
  • Sunset and lights: the evening Marina Cruise leaves at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm and is slower than the daytime routes. Love Boats also runs its Marina Skyline tour at 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
  • Your own boat: a 36 ft boat from Marina Walk costs AED 300 per hour for up to 10, with fishing gear available. Nemo Water Sports charges per boat for up to 14, with sunset and night trips and a route up Dubai Canal. Beno starts from the beach at The Address JBR.

Safety and rules

Speedboats bump over the waves, so every operator listed restricts who can come. Pregnant women and people with back problems cannot join the Love Boats, Yellow Boats or Xclusive Yachts tours; Love Boats also excludes heart conditions and The Yellow Boats neck problems. Xclusive Yachts does not take children aged 3 and under or guests aged 65 and over on its boats, and does not recommend the tour for wheelchair users. Love Boats sets the minimum at 3 years and 15 kg. The Yellow Boats' terms say 5, while its booking page says 4 and 15 kg, so check when you book. Nemo takes children from 5. Life jackets are worn throughout.

Practical tips

  • Arrive early: 30 minutes for Love Boats and The Yellow Boats, 15 minutes for Xclusive. Late arrivals lose their seat or get a shorter ride, with no refund.
  • Love Boats asks every passenger to bring original photo ID.
  • The Yellow Boats needs at least six passengers to run a tour; if it does not, you are offered a new date or a full refund.
